short film, 26'44
The short film examines the ambivalent public actions of the first post-reunification mayor of the small Thuringian town of Artern — oscillating between his work as an informant for the Stasi, his escape from the GDR, and his later political career within the SPD and FDP.
In the summer of 2022, DER LANGE HARALD travelled through the city of Dresden for seven days as a mobile pop-up cinema inside a small van. The touring cinema was part of the transnational art project NORDOSTSÜDWEST, realized in cooperation with Kunsthaus Dresden, Galerie Raskolnikow, and Hellerau – European Centre for the Arts.
